Dr. Kahlon joined our team on May 2016 after earning his DVM from Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University (GADVASU) in India and also is certified by American Veterinary Medical Association. His decision to pursue veterinary medicine was inspired by an experience he had when he was a teenager. At that time, he had a pet named Rimpy that died as a result of an unknown sickness and the lack of proper veterinary care. Also at that moment, he decided that he wanted to become a veterinarian so he could prevent others from having the same experience. Dr. Kahlon is the proud pet parent of a chihuahua/miniature pinscher mix named Brownie, and a shih tzu named Snickers. His professional interests include dermatology, soft tissue surgery and emergency care medicine. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, including wife Navpreet, son Eshaan and recently welcomed his daughter Arnaaz to the world.
Dr Gabrielle Szwajkowska, AKA Dr Gabi, joined our team in September 2021. While she was born in Southern California, she grew up in Europe and returned to California to finish High School. She went on to graduate from Washington State College of Veterinary Medicine and has been in love with the field of veterinary medicine ever since. Dr Gabi’s interest in veterinary medicine stems from her love of the mix of pets, people and detective work. The thing that brings her the most joy at work is seeing pets get better and the loving families they come in with. In her spare time, she enjoys beautiful beaches, craft food, drinks with friends and gorgeous hikes. She is a mom to one wonderful cat and is particularly fond of our feline patients.
Mariesa has been with us since February 2021. Mariesa is currently attending the RVT program at Allan Hancock College, set to graduate in May 2022. She is a mom to 2 dogs, a chihuahua/terrier mix named Abby, and a dachshund/terrier mix named Juno, as well as a cat named Cooper. Mariesa enjoys spending her free time hiking and is very interested in photography. She is planning to become a licensed RVT.
Amanda has been with us since March 2021. Amanda has a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from Southern Illinois University that she earned in 2016. She moved to the Central Coast from Chicago in February of 2021. Amanda has 2 dogs at home: a goldendoodle named Bodhi and a standard poodle named Tara, though she is quite fond of bulldogs. Amanda has spent most of her career working with larger animals, most recently working with pigs. She likes to spend her free time riding horses and at the beach.
Yahaira, or Yaya as she prefers to be called, has been with us since August 2021. Originally from the Los Angeles area, she graduated Animal Behavior College in 2013 to learn to become a veterinary assistant and began working in Sherman Oaks. In 2015 she moved to Santa Maria to be closer to her husband’s family and got immediately hired at VCA Animal Hospital. After taking a few years off to be a stay at home mother to 2 kids (a boy and a girl), Yaya got anxious to get back into veterinary medicine and we were lucky enough to scoop her up. She currently has an African Sulcata tortoise named Mac, and still fondly thinks of her golden retriever Chevy who is no longer with us. Despite her current pets, Yaya LOVES cats and is always excited when we get cats visiting us.
Janelle has been with us since January 2022. She is currently in the RVT program at Hancock college, set to graduate in May 2022.
